PURCHASING SHIPPER / RECEIVER
Job Duties: It is the responsibility of the Shipper / Receiver to receive and process all non-food merchandise and guest packages coming into the loading dock, upload daily incoming packages from UPS and FedEx for company’s package receiving software, issue or transfer all incoming packages via Houstonian Campus Package software, handle all freight claims for any damaged deliveries, process outgoing mail and sort all incoming mail and packages, receive any and all merchandise in company PO Checkbook system, properly document P.O. receiving and issuing to various departments, call in and track shorts or damaged merchandise from vendors and properly document status, handle all outgoing shipments for guests or departments and process appropriate documentation, maintain cleanliness and order of the receiving area, perform functions for food storeroom when needed, assist with materials and furniture assembly and delivery, additional tasks as directed by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Must be available to work varying schedules based upon the needs of the business. This may include AM or PM shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Must have moderate to high level computer skills, and be able to use shipping company’s websites such as UPS and Fed Ex, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Must have the ability to learn to use job specific computer programs. Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English. Must be accurate and detailed oriented. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift 50# on a frequent basis. Must be able to use hand truck. Must have ability to stand, walk, or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-hour plus shift. Must have ability to understand and follow directions, and perform job functions under limited supervision. Must have professional appearance and grooming.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma is strongly preferred. Must have a minimum of 2-years receiving experience in hotel purchasing or a warehouse environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to climb stairs, squat, kneel, and use fine motor movement with some frequency. Must be able to see and read documents and computer screens, with or without vision aids. Must be able to hear and understand at normal levels and on the telephone, with or without assistive devices. Must have the ability to smell, taste and touch in order to determine quality and freshness of food products when receiving. Must be able to work in an area with moderate to high levels of noise. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
